Hi, I'm Maisha! I am a PhD candidate in Computer Science at the
University of Texas at Arlington. I work in the Heracleia Human-Centered Computing Lab under the supervision of Dr. Fillia Makedon.
My research lies in human-centered computing (HCC) and human-robot interaction (HRI), with a focus on integrating large language models (LLMs), vision language models (VLMs) in assistive
and collaborative technologies.
My recent projects include NavVI, a telerobotic simulation with multimodal feedback for
visually impaired navigation and Mindful Assistant, a personalized adaptive
robotic system for cognitive fatigue assessment in individuals with paralysis.
Outside of research, I love being in the mountains - hiking, breathing in the views, and getting happily lost on trails.
I also enjoy exploring foods from different cultures around the world.
